While developing position skills (bars 1-9) shooters should NOT concentrate on the developement of just one
position; they should begin to earn qualifying targets in all positions concurrently. Position
bars may be obtained
as they are earned without regard to numerical sequence.

Five reasons we selected the 4 position rifle qualification course of fire;
1.We have and are familiar with the TQ-1 targets.
2.All qualifying is done on a 50 foot course, as opposed to a 100 yd course. (see American Rifleman)
3. Scouts will develope skills in all four positions, as opposed to the Light Rifle.
4. Distinguished Expert can be earned without competing in a sanctioned competition.
5. Qualifiers recieve the "A" certification.
