What is Reality Check?
REALITY CHECK is a series of essays exploring the day to day issues in life. In
this series, you will meet interesting people who aren't afraid to voice their opinions.
We'll visit small communities where life remains simple and satisfying even as the walls
of social abberation continue to close in on the people living there. We'll go to large
communities where the homeless rest on concrete and eat from garbage cans.
I'll take you far above a huge city at night, hanging above the bright lights in a
glass bubble. We'll board a Gulfstream belonging to one of the richest men in the world,
and then we'll visit a ghetto...and come away knowing, one last time, that all of God's
children don't have shoes.
REALITY CHECK is about what we have and what we don't have, and about those who do
and wish they didn't. REALITY CHECK is about this glorious land and the diversity that
surrounds us. REALITY CHECK is you and me, why we do what we do, and what would happen if
we didn't.
This series will explore the American way of life and why it doesn't work anymore.
We'll look, too, at crime and justice, and family values. Because my home base is Mason
City, Iowa, I will include articles of local interest, including a three piece series on
Johnny Snyder, a 22 month-old boy murdered in July of 1994. The case remains unsolved.
NOTHING is off-limits in this column. Anything is possible. All topics will be
discussed in a tasteful manner, and you'll find no porn, no intended racism, and no
questionable language. If you have a particular subject matter you would like written
about from my biased point of view, I would be most happy to consider your request.
I welcome your opinions and comments. In fact, I thrive on them and YOU WILL be
graded for creativity. I will be happy to publish your opinion, however you must include
your full name, address, and telephone number.
Thank you for selecting this site. Do venture further...
